The Iron Goat Trail Guidebook

Second Edition!

Guidebook Written by Becky Wandell for Volunteers for Outdoor Washington, The Iron Goat Trail - A Guidebook is more than a guidebook. It's a compact introduction to the history of railroading in the Pacific Northwest, the people who built the railroad, and the process of turning an abandoned railroad grade into a public trail. Learn more about the sweat, dedication and danger in pushing the Great Northern Railway over Stevens Pass and about the railroad structures you can see along the trail.  The paperbound book contains 21 black and white photos, 12 drawings, 3 maps, and lists of plants and animals of the area. An online copy of the guidebook is now available! Click here for the pdf version of the guidebook.

The 72-page Iron Goat Trail Guidebook is now out of print, but limited copies may still be available from VOW for a donation of $25 or more. For availability, contact VOW at 206-517-3019 or info@trailvolunteers.org. Send your donation to:
